Supervised visitation across the City of Hoover

Hoover is Birmingham's largest suburb, and it straddles two counties — most of the city sits in Jefferson County, with a growing portion along the US-280 corridor in Shelby County. From Bluff Park on top of Shades Mountain to Greystone off 280, it's a spread-out city, and traffic on I-459 and 280 can make cross-town trips slow. That geography matters when a court orders supervised visitation — most providers schedule from one fixed office, which forces the parent who lives farthest away to absorb the cost of every additional mile.

TruVisit Alabama does it differently. Our supervisors meet families at mutually convenient public locations across all of Hoover, chosen with the child's comfort and the court order's safety conditions in mind. We don't charge mileage. We don't charge travel time.

Hoover areas we regularly serve

  • Riverchase — including the Galleria area
  • Bluff Park — atop Shades Mountain
  • Ross Bridge
  • Trace Crossings
  • Patton Chapel & Green Valley
  • Inverness — the Shelby County side
  • Greystone — along the 280 corridor
  • The Preserve
  • Highway 150 corridor — toward Bessemer
  • Lake Cyrus

Common Hoover meet-up locations

Locations are selected case-by-case based on the court order, the child's age, and what makes sense for the visit. Public, family-appropriate venues we use regularly:

  • Aldridge Gardens
  • Veterans Park
  • Moss Rock Preserve family areas
  • Star Lake (Bluff Park)
  • Hoover Public Library (indoor option)
  • Riverchase Galleria area family venues (indoor options)
  • Ross Bridge Welcome Center green spaces
  • Family-appropriate restaurants throughout Riverchase, Patton Chapel, and the 280 corridor

Central Alabama summers run hot and humid. From late May through September we lean toward air-conditioned indoor venues for the child's comfort and to avoid heat-safety issues that compromise visit quality.

Jefferson and Shelby County courts and custody cases

Because Hoover spans the county line, custody matters for Hoover families may be heard in either the Jefferson County Circuit Court or the Shelby County Circuit Court, depending on where the case was filed. We work with both regularly. Our session reports are formatted in the objective, non-editorial, timestamped style these courts expect.

Custody and visitation in Alabama are governed primarily by Title 30 of the Code of Alabama, which controls custody, visitation, and support. For the broader process, see our guide to the Alabama family court process.

If your court order is from a Jefferson or Shelby County court Have a copy of the order ready when you call. The two things we most need to confirm during intake: the type of supervision ordered (full supervised visitation vs. monitored exchange vs. therapeutic), and any specific location or duration requirements written in the order. We can typically schedule a first session within 48–72 hours of intake completion.

How supervised visitation in Hoover actually works

  1. Submit an inquiry — the form on our home page. We respond within 24 hours.
  2. Intake call — 20–30 minutes by phone. We review your court order, confirm requirements, collect the $150 intake fee, and assign a TruVisit-certified supervisor.
  3. Schedule the first session — We coordinate with both parties and confirm a time and location in writing.
  4. The visit happens — A certified supervisor is present for the full session and documents observations in real time.
  5. Report delivered — A court-formatted written report is delivered within 24 hours to you, your attorney, or directly to the court depending on your order.
