Supervised visitation across the City of Birmingham
Birmingham stretches across Jones Valley and up both sides of Red Mountain, covering roughly 150 square miles of Jefferson County. The drive from East Lake to West End can take half an hour on a good day — longer when I-20/59 or the Red Mountain Expressway backs up. That geography matters when a court orders supervised visitation — most providers schedule from one fixed office, which forces the parent who lives farthest away to absorb the cost of every additional mile.
TruVisit Alabama does it differently. Our supervisors meet families at mutually convenient public locations across the entire City of Birmingham, chosen with the child's comfort and the court order's safety conditions in mind. We don't charge mileage. We don't charge travel time.

Common Birmingham meet-up locations
Locations are selected case-by-case based on the court order, the child's age, and what makes sense for the visit. Public, family-appropriate venues we use regularly:
- Railroad Park (Downtown)
- Avondale Park
- George Ward Park (Glen Iris)
- East Lake Park
- Crestwood Park
- McWane Science Center (indoor option, Downtown)
- Birmingham Zoo (adjacent to the Botanical Gardens)
- Birmingham Botanical Gardens
- Birmingham Public Library — Central, Avondale, and Five Points West branches
- Family-appropriate restaurants throughout Five Points South, Avondale, and Crestwood
Birmingham summers run hot and humid. From late May through September we lean toward air-conditioned indoor venues for the child's comfort and to avoid heat-safety issues that compromise visit quality.
Jefferson County courts and custody cases
Custody and divorce matters for Birmingham families are heard in the Jefferson County Circuit Court, which handles domestic relations cases for the most populous county in Alabama. Jefferson County is also unusual in having two courthouse divisions — the Birmingham division and the Bessemer division, which serves the western part of the county. Our session reports are formatted in the objective, non-editorial, timestamped style these courts expect.
Custody and visitation in Alabama are governed primarily by Title 30 of the Code of Alabama, which controls custody, visitation, and support. For the broader process, see our guide to the Alabama family court process.
